Kraken API Keys
An API Key and Secret from Kraken let Nicky connect to your account, enabling automation and crypto management from within Nicky. This guide walks you through creating them.
Create your Kraken API key
- 1Log in to your Kraken account at kraken.com, completing 2FA if enabled.
- 2Click the profile icon (upper right), select Settings, then open API Key.
- 3Click the API tab. If you're not using Kraken Pro, click Go to Kraken Pro, then Create API Key.
- 4Give the key a recognizable name and enable the required permissions (below).
- 5Click Generate Key, then securely store the API Key and Private Key (API Secret). The secret can't be retrieved again.
Required permissions
- Funds: Query, Deposit, Withdraw.
- Orders & Trades: Query Open Orders & Trades, Query Closed Orders & Trades, Create & Modify Orders.
Add the key in Nicky
- 1Log in to Nicky and go to Settings → Connections.
- 2Click Add Connection and select Kraken as the Wallet Service Provider.
- 3Enter the API Key, API Secret and a connection name.
- 4Click Add Connection to finalize.
Security best practices
- Never share your credentials.
- Enable 2FA on Kraken.
- Use a secure password manager.
- Regularly review API permissions.
- Revoke unused keys.
